A Call to Ministry

Introduction

Welcome to the Alabama South District Church of the Nazarene and Ministerial Studies. We hope the information you find on this site will help you discern your calling and guide you in the right direction. Please take time to read the letter below and peruse through the site to gain important information that will lead you on the path to ministry. Should you have any questions contact the Ministerial Studies Secretary - Rev. Wally Rezendes.

Letter to New Student

Dear New Ministerial Student:

By now I have probably received notice from your pastor concerning the action of the local church and your pastor granting you local preachers license. If you have not already done so then you will need to have your pastor send a letter to the Ministerial Studies Secretary (Rev. Wally Rezendes). It is my understanding that you wish to enroll in the course of study for one of the following (I will need to know which area of ministry you wish to enroll in):

You will want to enroll in a Seminary or College/University, ALABAMA NAZARENE SCHOOL OF MINISTRY (ANSM)" or Module classes. You will want to contact Rev. Wally Rezendes occasionally to confirm courses completed through transcripts from Colleges or Universities.

A requirement for the course of study is to have a mentor or advisor who will supervise you throughout your ministerial preparation. You will need to make a selection of an advisor/mentor. You may begin thinking and praying about this selection. It could be your Pastor or a Nazarene Pastor nearby. Your Pastor and or advisor/mentor can guide you in the right direction and answer many questions that would be helpful to your progress. My suggestion would be to begin your first course now by choosing any course that is available to you on one of the 6 locations throughout the district (unless you are working through college/university, ANSM, or Modulars).

You will need to have transcripts sent to Rev. Wally Rezendes directly (unless you have already done so) from any college, bible school, or seminary in which you received any course work. Credit will be given where possible.

Should you be interested in the ALABAMA NAZARENE SCHOOL OF MINISTRY (ANSM) (college level courses on the Alabama South District) it would help you move along at a faster pace and would give you classroom experience (unless you are already enrolled in a Seminary or College). If you are interested in taking any course work there, you should contact Mobile First, 669 Azalea Rd., Mobile, AL 36609, (334)-666-0040.

Learn about on-line studies through Nazarene Bible College (other Nazarene Universities offer the same).

We are encouraging every new student to begin their studies through the Modular Course of Study. Courses are offered in various areas of the Alabama South District.

Should you have any questions please call.

Sincerely,

Dr. Peter Gantz

Alabama South District

Ministerial Studies Board Chairman
